Tax Relief in Areas Affected by the Flood

courtesy of the town of Sunshine: “Finally, an upside to living in a federal disaster area: the IRS is granting some relief to residents of the disaster areas.

In short, if you are a resident of a county included in the disaster declaration, you have until December 2, 2013 for stuff that was due in September or October, including quarterly estimated tax payments and personal or corporate returns if you had an extension.

Also, you have the option of claiming this year’s losses on last year’s return in order to get the benefit sooner.
